The synagogue is known worldwide for its stunning stained glass windows.

ongregation Beth Jacob was first organized in 1899 yet it was not until 1909 that construction began on the congregation’s own permanent synagogue. The congregation grew and by the early 1950s a second, larger synagogue was built.

During the fifties and sixties Beth Jacob continued to thrive and grow. Under the leadership of Julius Cohen, a member who was a building contractor, Dr. Charles Young, Al Szames, the Goldmeier and Weinstock families as well as others the current synagogue building was completed in 1969. A major feature of this beautiful building are the two stunning stained glass windows. Notably, a photo of the synagogue appears in Abba Eban’s book The History of My People.
