Designed by famous synagogue architect Percival Goodman
Founded in 1907 to provide services for the High Holidays, Congregation Beth Israel was then, and remains today, the only synagogue in the Lebanon area. It is a small but diverse congregation including traditionalists, egalitarians, intermarried couples and Jews by choice.
The congregation’s current building with sanctuary seating for 200, was designed by famous synagogue architect Percival Goodman to mirror the barns of the surrounding Pennsylvania Dutch community. It was dedicated in 1953.
