2nd Oldest Synagogue in the Czech Republic.
Jews resided in Kolin as early as the 14th century. The synagogue, constructed in 1642, is the second oldest in the Czech Republic. By 1854 Kolin?s Jewish community numbered 1700. More than 2,202 Jews were deported from Kolin to Terezin by the Nazis in 1942. About 105 survived the Holocaust.
