established by Sephardic families from New York
Quoted from the website of Beth El Sephardic Congregation:
In the 1980s, the faithful Gabai synagogue, Yaakov Shema, and the cantor Yaakov Cohen took over the synagogue and ran the synagogue except during holidays and special events for the service of the Israeli community in the city
And since 2010, in the light of the passing of the faithful Gabai Yaakov Shema, the community opened Shaarei for prayers and activities on a daily basis under the direction of Rabbi Shlomo Meir Elharar and with the assistance and support of dozens of families who wish to preserve the Sephardic tradition in the city
With the emphasis being on preserving Jewish youth, our next generation.
