Although somewhat isolated, a vibrant Jewish community center and synagogue
In 1908 a handful of Jews met in a rented house for Saskatoon’s first Jewish religious services. By 1919 the group had grown and a synagogue was built at the corner of Avenue F and 21st Street. With continued growth, the current synagogue and Jewish Community Center was dedicated in 1958. Mayor Sidney Buckwold, the first and so far only Jewish mayor of Saskatoon, officiated at the ribbon cutting.
