History or comments

The synagogue’s exterior is of distinctly middle-Eastern style.

Ohr Hamizrach translates to English as “Light of the East”. The congregation was founded in 1981 by 10 immigrants. Since then it has grown to a multi-faceted gathering point for prayers, education and social services for the local Iranian Jewish community. The congregational membership stands at 100 families while the community center serves about 150 families representing 700 individuals who are primarily from the Baltimore Iranian Jewish community.
