A synagogue with an exact twin.
Known as the City of Roses, at its zenith the Jewish community of Windsor, Ontario, had a population of 3,000 at its zenith in the 1930s. It has dwindled to about 1000 by 2015.
Shaar Hashomayim was dedicated May 25, 1930 and the first services were held in the building Rosh Hashanah of that year. A unique aspect of this fine building is that it is an exact copy of a synagogue of the same name located in Montreal, Quebec.
