Temple Adath Israel is the oldest Jewish congregation in Lexington.

Incorporated in 1904, Temple Adath Israel is the oldest Jewish congregation in Lexington. The congregation’s first building was purchased in 1905. Land for the current building was purchased in 1925 and the new synagogue was dedicated in 1926. In 1949 adjacent land was purchased to permit expansion. The building underwent a major remodel and renovation in 1983-84.
