An iconic building by the famous architect Morris Lapidus.

Temple Beth-El was established in 1928, primarily by Ashkenazi Jews who were among the first Jewish settlers on Florida’s West Coast. The membership outgrew its original small home in downtown St. Petersburg and moved to its current location in 1955.

The famous Miami based architect Morris Lapidus, who designed the iconic Fountainbleu and Eden Roc hotels, was engaged to design a landmark synagouge building. The new building with curves like a shofar was dedicated in 1961. The major addition of a an religious school was completed in 2002.

Today Beth-El is the hub of Jewish life for 430 families.
