A striking synagogue designed by world renowned architect Morris Lapidus.

Temple Judea’ roots were planted in 1946 when a few Jewish families living in the South Coral Gables area began meeting in temporary spaces including homes, University of Miami Hillel Center and storefronts. This growing group formed the Coral Gables Jewish Center and joined the Union of American Hebrew Congregations in 1948. Only two years later a full time rabbi and cantor were hired and a permanent temple was constructed in the commercial section of Coral Gables.

By the early 1960s growth of the congregation required a larger facility. In 1966 Temple Judea purchased the current prominent location on US Highway 1 and dedicated the existing building which was designed by the famous architect Morris Lapidus. Through the years the congregation has continued to grow and expansion of the building has occurred. The sanctuary was renovated in 2004 and a school addition and renovation occurred in 2013.
