The first synagogue in Newton, Massachusetts.
Congregation Agudas Achim Anshei Sfard, known as The Adams Street Shul, is an independent Orthodox synagogue serving a diverse congregation. Built in 1912 as Newton’s first synagogue, the congregation served the small immigrant community of Nonantum. The building was restored in the 1980s and 1990s, and now serves the entire Newton Jewish community. The Romanesque Revival style building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in March of 1990.
